 Shopping Paradise
Shopping in Bangkok is full of fun and discovery. Not just limited to the posh malls, tourists can also pick up unique handicrafts and bargains from the markets and streets. The following is just a selection of some of the popular shopping districts :

Silom-Mahesak-New Road

The jewellery and gem hub of Bangkok. Travelling between Silom and New Road, tourists can find numerous stores selling both manmade and top-quality gems and jewellery, notably Mahesak Road, Oriental Plaza and River City shopping complex.

Bang Lamphu
Located close to the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Bang Lamphu has a lively market where clothing is a popular buy.

Ploenchit-Ratchaprasong
Forming the largest shopping promenade in Bangkok, Ploenchit-Ratchaprasong is home to some of the biggest department stores and luxury shopping malls, namely Central, Sogo, Gaysorn Plaza, Isetan, Zen, Amarin Plaza, Peninsula Plaza and many others. In addition, the World Trade Center and Narayana Phand Pavilion host the official handicraft centre selling items from all parts of the country. And Ratchaprasong intersection is the gateway to several other shopping areas such as Ploenchit-Sukhumvit, Siam Square-Mah Boon Krong, Silom and Pratunam-Phetchaburi.

Silom-Surawong-Patpong
Silom Road is the main artery of Bangkok’s commercial heart and is paralleled by Surawong Road, while Patpong runs crosswise between the two. In addition to dozens of specialist shops and boutiques representing all the major buys, the area also boasts many well-known retailers, shopping plazas and Patpong’s famous night market.

Sukhumvit
Like Silom, Sukhumvit is one of Bangkok’s main thoroughfares, and the long road is lined with shops, boutiques and modern shopping plazas ranging from Soi 3 (Nana Nua) up to Soi 63 (Ekamai). Plenty of shops and restaurants can also be found between Soi 3 and Soi 21 and along shortcuts between Asoke and Ekamai.

Pratunam-Phetchaburi

When it comes to ready-to-wear clothing, a trip to Pratunam Market is a must. With its wide selection of clothing, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice.

Chinatown
Found between Yaowarat Road and Sampheng Lane, Bangkok’s Chinatown offers visitors a dazzling array of gold shops as well as two nearby traditional shopping places, “Ban Mo Jewellery Street” and “Phahurat Cloth Market”.

Baiyoke Tower
Located next to Bangkok’s tallest hotel, Baiyoke Tower is renowned for its wide selection of quality garments.

Nai Lert Market
Situated close to Pratunam Market, Nai Lert Market is one of many shopping areas in Bangkok where you can buy just about everything from clothing to handicrafts and more.

Chatuchak Weekend Market
From just about everything from clothing to potted plants, furniture and everything in between, Chatuchak Weekend Market, a Bangkok landmark is a paradise for browsers and bargain-hunters. Located adjacent to Chatuchak Park, it’s also a place where professional and amateur art lovers and artists meet.

Bo-be Market
Renowned for its ready-to-wear clothing, both wholesale and retail, Bo-be Market can be found near Bangkok Railway Station.
